Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Air BnB: We stayed in a spacious 3-bedroom condo located within steps of downtown Tamarindo. This condo was comfortable for our family of 5; the partial view of the ocean was nice to see from the balcony. There is also a large living room and kitchen area with floor to ceiling windows, all appliances were new and updated. Distance from the airport, 1 hr. & 15min.

Let’s get into all the amazing things about Costa Rica!

Transportation:  Our Air BnB concierge booked our transportation. We were greeted by the shuttle van driver once we landed. The driver loaded our luggage onto the van, and we quickly began the 1 hour- 15 min ride to Tamarindo.

4 Days in Tamarindo Costa Rica:

The Air BnB was located within a 2 min. walk from the beach, restaurants, and shops of Tamarindo. The concierge service offered by the Air BnB host was convenient and helpful as they recommended transportation and activities etc. There is a small grocery store nearby, we bought fruit, snacks, and drinks to stock in the fridge.

We rented a golf cart to drive around the small downtown area.  The condo complex has a small pool located a few steps away from the main condo building. Our family enjoyed the pool which seemed exclusive to us, no other families or guests used the area at the same time. Each day we walked or drove (via golf cart) to breakfast or brunch and dinner.  There were also many options for lunch right on the beach. All food options were close by, and the food was delicious in Tamarindo! The beach is beautiful, clean and the sand is dark brown, slightly black in color. There are hardly any shaded areas on the beach, so we rented chairs and an umbrella.  We enjoyed horseback riding right on the beach for the first time, the cost was only $20 U.S.D. per person. There was also a local making snow cones, these were also delicious!

We chose one activity outside the downtown area. Through the concierge we scheduled a sunset boat tour, I gave this tour an 8.5 out of 10. It was very packed with other families (all adults)- it would have been a better experience if the boat was big enough to accommodate the number of guests on board. Overall, we enjoyed the ride. They served finger foods, drinks, fruit. We saw the most amazing sight of a whale and sea turtles!

Our son enjoyed celebrating his birthday here also! We were able to get dessert and candles from the local grocery store. Another highlight of our trip was having a Mariachi band sing live during dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that it was Mother’s Day in Costa Rica!!! The band came directly to our table, and the staff wished me a Happy Mother's Day, sweet- twice in 1 year! We recommend Tamarindo for a family trip or couples getaway.
